Import tariff

On March 28, 2018, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) issued Resolution No. 24 introducing 126 products enclosed in 62 eight-digits tariff lines in the list of auto parts not produced in the country. This action has lead to the decrease of the import tariff of these new products, which has been reduced to 2% from 12%, 14%, 16% and 18% depending on the subject good.

Some of the new duties have a temporary character and apply until December 31, 2019, and June 30, 2020, depending on the product.

On 17 December 2018, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council has adopted Resolution 102 revoking this Resolution as of 1 January 2019 (please, see related state acts).

Import tariff quota

Resolution 24 issued by the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (Camex) on March 28, 2018, also sets a temporary import tariff quota for NCM 8414.90.39 product category Ex 049 and NCM 8504.40.90 product category Ex 010. The new import duty has been established at 2% for a quota of 60,000 and 300 units respectively. The import tariff outside the quota is set at 14% and 16% correspondingly. These values apply until December 31, 2019. Previously, no import tariff quota applied to this product category.
