On 22 December 2017, the Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) published a notification inviting proposals to invest in manufacturing of certain import substitution commodities. The MIC has offered the investors assistance in land and electricity procurement and an expedited scrutinization of the business proposals.

The investment areas listed for import substitution include manufacturing of different types of vehicles and vehicle-related fixtures and parts of machines, tractors and trailers, telephone and telecommunication equipment, machine and machinery equipment, electricity distributing and control apparatus, iron & steel, fertilizers, plastic raw materials, paper, emulated fibre, edible oil, medicine and cosmetic products.
