FDI: Entry and ownership rule

On January 20, 2015, the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies enacted Law 13,097 modifying the FDI rules related to investments in the national Healthcare sector. The new legislation allows foreign capital to fully participate in Brazilian companies that have the purpose of establishing, operating or managing general, specialized, or philanthropic hospitals and polyclinics. These investments are allowed be carried out through the holding of a controlling stake, either directly or indirectly in these companies.
