Import tariff quota

On December 17, 2017, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council, issued Resolution 99, reducing temporarily the import duties on NCM 4005.99.90, 5402.47.10 and 8537.20.90 for a certain quota. The quotas have been set as it follows:

  • For NCM 4005.99.90 the import duty has been reduced from 14% to 2% for 1,300 tonnes for six months;
  • For NCM 5402.47.10, the import duty has been reduced from 18% to 2% for 2,200 tonnes for a twelve-month period;
  • For NCM 8537.20.90 the import duty has been reduced from 9% to 2% for 6 units of "Generator Circuit Breaker System" and 25 units of  “Plug and Switch System” for a twelve-month period.

Previously to this resolution, there was no import tariff quota for these tariffs lines. The out-of-quota tariffs remained unchanged.

In addition to the aforementioned, the Resolution extended the import tariff quota set for NCM 3907.40.90 for another twelve months (see related state act).

Update
On 5 December 2018, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council, issued Resolution 91 renewing for another twelve months the 2% import duty set on NCM 5402.47.10. This import tariff applies for 2,000 tonnes (please, see related state acts).
