Import tariff

On 17 November 2017, the Indian Ministry of Finance has through Notification No. 87 /2017 - Customs increased the basic customs duty on the following oil products - 

  • Crude palm oil of edible grade from 15% to 30%
  • Refined palm oil of edible grade from 25% to 40%
  • Crude sunflower oil from 12.5% to 25
  • Refined sunflower oil of edible grade from 20% to 35%
  • Crude soya bean oil from 17.5% to 30%
  • Refined soya bean oil from 20% to 35%
  • Crude rapeseed oil including canola oil (Low erucic acid rapeseed oil), mustard oil and colza oil from 12.5% to 25%
  • Refined rapeseed oil including canola Oil (Low erucic acid rapeseed oil), mustard oil, and colza oil from 20% to 35%

The duty on palm oils was increased on 1 March 2018 while that on all other oils except crude palm oil has been increased on 14 June 2018 (see related State Acts).
