On October 20, 2011, the Government of Argentina adopted reference prices applicable to the importation of certain type of welded tubes or pipes from Taiwan, Brazil, Uruguay, Italy, Mexico and other countries.
The products subject to this measure are classified under the following tariff lines of the MERCOSUR's Harmonized System: 7306.40.00, 7306.61.00, 7306.69.00, 7306.90.10, 7306.90.20 and 7306.90.90.
These reference prices entered into force on October 20, 2011.
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature forimported goods in June 2005 (in Spanish:valorescriteriodecarácterpreventivo).Thestatedpurpose is tostrengthencustomscontrolandpreventunder-invoicing.
