Import tariff

On December 16, 2010, the Council of the Common Market of Mercosur issued Decision no. 58/10, allowing member states to create a list of exceptions to the Common External Tariff for imports from outside the Mercosur common market.

Member states can create the list invoke as it follows:

  • Argentina and Brazil for up to 100 NCM tariff lines valid until December 31, 2015;
  • Paraguay for up to 649 NCM tariff lines until December 31, 2019;
  • Uruguay for up to 225 NCM tariff lines until December 31, 2017.

This decision has to be incorporated to the Member State's legal systems before June 30, 2011.

Update

On July 16, 2015, the Council of the Common Market of Mercosur issued Decision no. 26/15 updating the termination dates and Member States allowances. The new provisions are the following:

  • Argentina and Brazil for up to 100 NCM tariff lines valid until December 31, 2021;
  • Paraguay for up to 649 NCM tariff lines until December 31, 2023;
  • Uruguay for up to 225 NCM tariff lines until December 31, 2022;
  • Venezuela for up to 225 NCM tariff lines until December 31, 2022.
