Import tariff quota

On August 11, 2017, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (Camex) issued Resolution 59 establishing a temporary reduction in the import duty for a certain quota on acrylics classified under HS Code 5503.30.00. The import tariff was set at 2% for a quota of 9,000 tonnes. The import duty outside the quota is set at 16%. Previously there was no quota at reduced import duty.

The quota and the reduced import duty are valid for one year. The stated product did not benefit from an import quota prior to this intervention.

Update
On 24 May 2018, Camex issued Resolution 35 extending for another twelve months the tariff-rate quota set on HS Code 5503.30.00, establishing a new quota of 9,000 tonnes with an import duty set at 2%.
