Tax-based export incentive

On 1 October 2010, the government of India re-introduced the Duty Entitlement Passbook Scheme (DEPB) for cotton exports.

Firms participating in the DEPB may earn credits for exported products. This credit reflects the amount of import duty payed on intermediates used in the exported product. They can then use this credit to pay for future import duties.
