Import tariff

On July 29, 2011, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia issued Decree 2658/2011 reducing from 15% to 5% the applicable import tariff on vehicles for the transportation of more than ten people or transportation of goods with a weight of maximum 4,537 tonnes, both with gas engines.

In addition, it also sets a 5% import duty for the chassis of tractors and special vehicles with gas engines (HS Code 8706). The previous duties ranged between 15% and 35%.

This state act shall be valid until December 31, 2011.

Import tariff quota

On July 29, 2011, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia issued Decree 2658/2011 establishing a duty-free import quota for 161 units of vehicles for the transportation of 10 or more people with gas or electric or hybrid engines. The import duty outside the quota is set at 35%.

This state act shall be valid until December 31, 2011.
