The transportation and economy ministries announced in a joined statement that Air Berlin had filed for bankruptcy and Germany would provide a 150 million EUR bridging loan such that the airline could continue operations. The measure's implementation level is classified as a National Financing Institution since the loan will be provided by the KfW state bank.

The GTA includes state guarantees and other financial incentives thatare likely to affect the restructuring and performance of firms facing international competition, whether from imports, in export markets, andfrom foreign subsidiaries.
