Labour market access

On June 28, 2017, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) announced that it would further facilitate the issuance of targeted Notifications of Interest to candidates who qualify for Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream and who have work experience in the information and communications technology sector. These include candidates in the following fields:

  • Telecommunication Carriers Managers
  • Computer and Information Systems Managers
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineers
  • Computer Engineers (Except Software Engineers and Designers)
  • Information Systems Analysts and Consultants
  • Database Analysts and Data Administrators
  • Software Engineers and Designers
  • Computer Programmers and Interactive Media Developers
  • Web Designers and Developers
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technologists and Technicians
  • Computer Network Technicians
  • User Support Technicians Systems
  • Testing Technicians
  • Broadcast Technicians
  • Graphic Designers and Illustrators

For these occupations only, the OINP will accelerate the issuance of permits by lowering the required minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score. Candidates will still need to meet other eligibility requirements with respect to work experience, education, language, settlement funds, and an intention to reside in Ontario long term.
