Import tariff quota

On June 27, 2017, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (Camex) issued Resolution No. 41 introducing tariff-rate quotas on medical x-ray films, polymers of vinyl chloride, and acrylic polymers in primary forms, falling under the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM): 3702.10.20, 3904.30.00 and 3906.90.49. The general import duty set at 14% was temporarily reduced to 2% for a certain quota. The established quotas were the following:

  • 1,000 tonnes for NCM 3702.10.20;
  • 5,000 tonnes for NCM 3904.30.00;
  • between 460 tonnes and 10,000 tonnes depending on the product for NCM 3906.90.49.

These temporary tariffs apply for twelve months starting on June 30, 2017.

 
Update
On April 24, 2018, CAMEX issued Resolution 27 revoking the reduced tariff rate quota set on NCM 3906.90.49 (please, see related state acts).
 
On June 28, 2018, CAMEX issued Resolution 43 extending for six months the import tariff quota set on NCM 3702.10.20. In this occasion, the quota was set at 500 tonnes (please, see related state acts).
