April 10th, 2017 - The PRC Ministry of Industry and Information Technology releases an action plan, aiming to boost the cloud computing industry in China over the next three years. The Ministry promises financial support through encouraging policies to achieve its goals.

Instrument unclear

On the 10th of April 2017, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced it was aiming to boost the scale of the cloud computing industry in China from 150bn to 450bn CNY through the use of several instruments, including the direct encouragement of investment entities to inject funds into relevant firms.

Combined with several restricitve cybersecurity policies released over the last few years (see related measures), this scheme is set to only benefit domestic Chinese firms.
