Import tariff quota

On November 30, 2016, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council issued Resolution no. 50 altering tariff-rate quotas on frozen sardines (HS Code 0303.53.00). The reduced import tariff of 2% applies for a quota of 80,000 tonnes and a period of 12 months, starting on December 15, 2016. The previously reduced import tariff applied for a quota of 30,000 tonnes.

Update

On May 8, 2017, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council issued Resolution no. 16 setting a new applicable quota with 2% import tariff for frozen sardines (HS Code 0303.53.00). The new quota was set at 60,000 tonnes for a twelve-month period starting on May 9, 2017.

On December 21, 2017, the Foreign Trade Council of Brazil issued Resolution no. 98 setting a new applicable quota with 2% import duty for frozen sardines (HS Code 0303.53.00). The new quota was set at 50,000 tonnes and it has a validity of six months.
