Anti-dumping

On March 29, 2010, the Mexican Ministry of Economy decided to initiate a sunset review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of certain types of industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids from the United States of America. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code: 3823.1999. This review follows the application lodged on February 23, 2010 by Quimic, S.A. de C.V. The investigation started on the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Federation, i.e. on April 7, 2010. The existing anti-dumping duty remains enforced during the review.

On October 11, 2010, the Mexican authorities issued the preliminary resolution and decided upon the continuation of the existing anti-dumping duty of 23.29% until the end of the revision. This preliminary resolution was published in the Official Journal of the Federation on October 20, 2010.

On September 30, 2011, the Mexican authorities terminated the review and decided upon the continuation of the existing anti-dumping measure imposed on imports of industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids originating in the United States of America. The rate of the definitive duty remains 23.29%.
This duty entered into force on the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Federation, i.e. on October 7, 2011. It shall be enforced for a period of five years, starting from April 8, 2010.

The original anti-dumping duty entered into force on April 8, 2005.

On March 12, 2015, the Mexican Ministry of Economy decided to initiate a second sunset review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids from the United States of America.
This review follows the application lodged on February 25, 2015 by Quimic, S.A. de C.V.
The investigation started on the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Federation, i.e. on March 26, 2015. The existing anti-dumping duty remains enforced during the review.

On 10 May 2016, the Mexican authorities extended the definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of certain types of industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids from the United States of America following the conclusion of the above sunset review. The rate of duty remains at 23.29% for a period of five years starting from 8 April 2015.

On 31 March 2020, the Mexican authorities initiated a sunset review of the definitive antidumping duty imposed on imports of the subject good from the United States. This follows the application lodged on 2 March 2020 by Quimic, S.A. de C.V.

On 23 July 2020, the Mexican authorities terminated the definitive duty imposed on imports of certain types of industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids from the United States following the conclusion of a sunset review. The duty was terminated as it was set to expire unless extended following the conclusion of a review.
