According to media reports, Indonesia announced it would increased its sugar import quota in the first quarter of 2017 to meet the demand in the Indonesian market.

Import quota

Indonesia is going to import 400,000 tonnes of raw sugar in the first quarter of 2017 compared to a total of 564,000 during the entire duration of 2016. Assuming an equal distribution of the quota in the previous year, this represents a significant increase of 259,000 tonnes.
