Export subsidy

Representatives Collin C. Peterson (Democrat of Minnesota) and Mike Simpson (Republican of Idaho) introduced on September 23, 2011 the Dairy Security Act of 2011 (H.R.3062). The main purpose of the bill is to revamp the subsidies and other supports for U.S. dairy farmers, but one of its provisions would repeal the Dairy Export Incentive Program that has been in place since 1985. The bill is likely to be one of the items under consideration as Congress writes the new farm bill of 2012.
