Export tax

On January 2, 2017, Decree 1343/2016 was published in the Argentine Gazette (i.e. Boletín Oficial de la República Argentina). In it, the Ministry of Agroindustry approved the creation of a new plan designed to reduce the applicable export tax on soybean, soybean oil and soybean meals. The new plan established a monthly reduction of 0.5% in the applicable tax starting in January 2018 and finishing in December 2019, meaning that by the end of the defined time period, export taxes on these goods would be reduced by 12%.  By the time this Decree was issued, the established export taxes ranged between 30% and 27%.

On 3 April 2018, the Ministry of Agroindustry of Argentina published Decree 265/2018 modifying the system of liquidation of export duties in future operations applied to soybean and soy-based products. In this sense, the new legislation states that for the liquidation of the export rights of these goods, the above-mentioned discounts also apply. Hence for future export operations, the period between the closing date of the sale and the beginning of the declared embarkation will be taken into account when calculating the applicable export duty.
On 24 May 2018, Decree 487/2018 was published on the Official Gazette setting at 10% the export tax on NCM 1517.90.10 and 1507.90.11 as from 1 July 2018 (please, see related state acts).
On 14 August 2018, the Argentine Executive adopted Decree 757/2018 changing the export duties on certain soy products by pausing the monthly export tariff reduction (please, see related state acts).
