In a reclassification ruling by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the MFN tariff applicable to flip caps is being reduced.
NUMBER OF INTERVENTIONS
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced a reclassification ruling in the May 3, 2017 edition (Volume 51 Number 18) of Customs Bulletin and Decisions that resulted in a decrease in the tariff applicable to aluminum ferrule/plastic button combinations used as closures for glass vials used as repositories for medicinal products. The item had previously been classified under HTSUS subheading 3923.50.00 (5.3% duty), but CBP has ruled that they may be reclassified under HTSUS subheading 8309.90.00 (2.6% duty). The final revocation and modification became effective for goods entered or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption on or after July 3, 2017.
