ANNOUNCEMENT 26 Jan 2011

In January 2011, the European Commission initiated a sunset review of the antidumping duty imposed on imports of tartaric acid from China. Duties were extended in April 2012 and a new sunset review was initiated in April 2017 and the definitive duty was extended in June 2018. The original investigation was initiated on 30 October 2004.

Anti-dumping

The sunset review was initiated on 26 January 2011. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code subheading: 2918.12.00. This investigation follows the application lodged on 27 October by Distillerie Bonollo SpA, Industria Chimica Valenzana SpA, Distillerie Mazzari SpA, Caviro Distillerie S.r.l. and Comercial Quimica Sarasa s.l.

On 25 April 2012, the European Commission extended the definitive antidumping duty imposed on imports of subject good from China following the conclusion of the above sunset review. The rate of duty is between 4.7% and 34.9% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price before duty depending on the company.

On 14 July 2012, the European Commission amended the above antidumping duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China. The rate of duty is 8.3% and 34.9% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price before duty depending on the company.

On 19 April 2017, the European Commission initiated a sunset review of the antidumping duty imposed on imports of tartaric acid from China. This investigation follows the application lodged on 24 January 2017 by Distillerie Bonollo S.r.l., Caviro Distillerie S.r.l., Industria Chimica Valenzana S.p.a., Alvinesa Alcoholera Vinicola SA, and Comercial Quimica Sarasa SL 

On 30 June 2018, the European Commission extended the definitive duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China following the conclusion of the sunset review. The rate of duty is between 8.3% and 34.9% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price before duty depending on the company. The regulation extending the definitive duty was published on 29 June 2018.
