On August 31, 2011, the Government of Argentina adopted reference prices applicable to the importation of certain type of parts and accessories for motor vehicles from China, Thailand, among others. The products subject to this measure are classified under the following tariff lines of the MERCOSUR's Harmonized System: 8708.80.00, 8708.94.90 and 8708.99.90.
These reference prices entered into force on September 2, 2011.
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature forimported goods in June 2005 (inSpanish:valorescriteriodecarácterpreventivo).Thestatedpurpose is tostrengthencustomscontrolandpreventunder-invoicing.
