On 31 March 2017, the Malaysian authorities amended the Customs Duties Order 2017 of 3 January 2017 imposing import and export duties on a number of goods. The amendments come into force on 1 April 2017.

Import tariff

The Malaysian authorities imposed import duties on polyurethane tar coatings from 5% to 25% (HS code subheading 2715.00.10) and other plastic, sheet, film, foil or strip of additional polymerization products (HS code subheading 3921.90.90.10) from 0% to 20%.

Export tax

Besides increased import duties, the Malaysian government expanded the products of baulks, sawlog and veneer logs falling under subsections of HS code subheading 4403.99.10 to impose export duties on said goods. The export duty is 15%.
