On July 3, 2011, the Peruvian Government published in the national Gazette the Law 29733 referring to the protection of personal data. This new legislation restricts data transfers out of Peru unless the recipient country has adequate data protection laws which are determined by the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data, or unless the case corresponds to one of exemption listed on the Peruvian law like consent from the subject; the existence of international agreements dealing with this matter; international judiciary cooperation; international intelligence cooperation; medical purposes; bank transfer; or matters related to a contractual obligation.
