Import tariff quota

On June 8, 2016, the Mexican Secretariat of Economy passed a Decree announcing the establishment of duty-free import tariff quotas applied to cattle bought for fattening; fresh, chilled and frozen beef; and rice. The previous tariff quotas values applied to these tariff lines ranged from 15% to 25% in the case of beef and 9% and 20% in the case of rice.

In order to apply for the quota, importers must hold an import quota certificate given by the Secretary of Economy, as well as fulfil with the requirements imposed by the same administration.
