The Decree 543/2016 passed by the Argentinian Government on March 31, 2016, increased from 10% to 12% the minimum volume percentage of bioethanol included in automobile fuels produced in Argentina and established that this 2% increase must come from local producers located in the Northeast of the country. Furthermore, this new legislation established that the composition of the 12% bioethanol had to be obtained by using 50% palm sugar-based bioethanol and the other 50% from corn-based bioethanol.
