Import tariff

On July 4, 2011, the Government of Argentina adopted reference prices applicable to the importation of certain type of frames and mountings for spectacles, corrective spectacles, and sunglasses from China, Taiwan, and other Asian countries. The products subject to this measure are classified under the following tariff lines of MERCOSUR's Harmonized System: 9003.11.00, 9003.19.10, 9003.19.90, 9004.10.00 and 9004.90.10.
 
The measure, General Resolution 3142/2011, modifies General Resolution 3111 (see "Related Measures") and was effective on July 4, 2011.
 
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature forimported goods in June 2005(inSpanish:valorescriteriodecarácterpreventivo).Thestatedpurpose is tostrengthencustomscontrolandpreventunder-invoicing.
