Safeguard

On 16 December 2010 Thailand initiated a safeguard investigation concerning imports of glass block (HS 7016.90.00).
 
On 5 January 2011, the Thai authorities notified the WTO of the imposition of a provisional safeguard duty. The rate of duty is 35% of CIF price. The measure entered into force on 15 January 2011.
 
On 18 August 2011, the Thai authorities imposed a definitive duty. The rate of duty is until 14 January 2012 35 % of c.i.f.. price or 11.23 baht (USD 0.37) per piece, whichever is higher. The rate of duty between 15 January 2012 and 14 January 2013 is 32 % of c.i.f. price or 10.23 baht (USD 0.34) per piece, whichever is higher. The rate of duty between 15 January 2013 and 14 January 2014 is 29 % of c.i.f.. price or 9.23 baht (USD 0.31) per piece, whichever is higher.
 
On 5 August 2013, the Thai authorities notified the WTO of the extension of the above measure for an additional period of three years. The rate of duty between 15 Jan 2014 and 14 Jan 2015 is 27.50% on c.i.f. or 8.73 baht (USD 0.28) per piece, whichever is higher. The rate of duty between 15 Jan 2015 and 14 Jan 2016 is 26.00% on c.i.f. or 8.23 baht (USD 0.26) per piece, whichever is higher. The rate of duty between 15 Jan 2016 and 14 Jan 2017 is 24.50% on c.i.f. or 7.73 baht (USD 0.25) per piece, whichever is higher.
