Labour market access

On 22 June 2011, the German government presented its strategy for the employment of skilled workers. Among the proposals that largely concern education and compatibility of family and job issues is a section on the employment of foreign personnell.

Effective immediately, firms that want to hire either medical doctors, mechanical, vehicle or electrical engineers no longer have to prove the inadequacy of German candidates before hiring a non-EU citizen.
