Import ban

On 1 March 2011, the government of India banned the import of acetate tow and filter rods.
 
With the exception of acetate tow used for the production of filter rods, the fibre may no longer be imported to India.
 
Accompanying this measure, filter rods not destined for the production of filter cigarettes may no longer be imported into the country.
