Anti-circumvention

On 13 August 2016, the Argentinian authorities initiated an anti-circumvention investigation on imports of certain sunglasses, eyeglass frames and spectacles declared as originating in Japan (Disposición 38/2016). The product subject to investigation is classified under the following HS code subheadings: 9003.11.00, 9003.19.10, 9003.19.90 and 9004.10.00. This investigation follows suspicion that the definitive anti-dumping duty imposed by Resolución Nº 588 of 4 October 2012 on certain type of sunglasses, mountings, and corrective spectacles from China (see related intervention) is being circumvented by being declared as originating from Japan. The investigation follows the application lodged by Cámara Argentina de Industrias Ópticas y Afines.
