Anti-dumping

The International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa through a sunset review has recommended that the removal of anti-dumping duties on acetaminophenol originating in or imported from China and the United States of America would likely lead to the continuation or recurrence of dumping and the recurrence of material injury.
The anti-dumping duties which are; China - 2573c/kg and USA- 2371c/kg,were to expire on 14 July 2010. The application was lodged by Fine Chemicals Corporation (Pty) Ltd, the only manufacturer of the product in the Southern Africa Customs Union (SACU).

On March 4, 2011, the extended anti-dumping duty entered into force. The amount of the duty on imports originating in China remains 2573c per kilogram (USD 2.48501 per kilogram according to the exchange rate on May 18, 2014). The amount of the duty on imports originating in the United States of America remains 2371c per kilogram (USD 2.28992 per kilogram according to the exchange rate on May 18, 2014).

The duty terminated on August 16, 2013. The reason for termination is that SACU manufacturer discontinued the manufacture of acetaminophenol.
