ANNOUNCEMENT 20 Sep 2010

In September 2010, the government of Canada initiated a new anti-subsidy and anti-dumping investigation. In December 2010, a provisional duty was imposed and a definitive duty was imposed in April 2011. In April 2016, the definitive duty was extended for a new period following the conclusion of a sunset review initiated in August 2015. In March 2021, a sunset review was initiated.

Anti-dumping

On 20 September 2010, the Canadian authorities initiated an antidumping investigation on imports of certain steel grating from China. The products subject to investigation are classified under HS code subheading 7308.90. The Canadian authorities additionally initiated an anti-subsidy investigation, see related intervention. 

On 20 December 2010, the Canadian authorities imposed a provisional duty on the subject good from China. The rate of duty is between 20% and 91%.

On 19 April 2011, the Canadian authorities imposed a definitive duty on imports of steel grating from China. The rate of duty is 16.26% or 85% depending on the company. 

On 12 August 2015, the Canadian authorities initiated a sunset review of the definitive duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China.

On 18 April 2016, the Canadian authorities extended the definitive duty on imports of steel grating from China for a new period. 

On 30 March 2021, the Canada Border Services Agency initiated a sunset review of the definitive duty imposed and extended on imports of steel grating from China.

Anti-subsidy

On 20 December 2010, the Canadian authorities imposed provisional countervailing duties on the subject good from China. The rate of duty is between 6% and 129%. 

On 19 April 2011, the Canadian authorities imposed a definitive countervailing duty on imports of steel grating from China. The rate of duty is between CNY 543 and 13,064 per metric tone.

On 12 August 2015, the Canadian authorities initiated a sunset review of the definitive duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China.

On 18 April 2016, the Canadian authorities extended the definitive duty on imports of steel grating from China for a new period. 

On 30 March 2021, the Canada Border Services Agency initiated a sunset review of the definitive duty imposed and extended on imports of steel grating from China.
