Import tariff

With Legal Notice No. EAC/12/2010, the members of the East African Community have revised import duties on a range of items.
 
Starting 1 July 2010, the following changes took effect:

  • Tariffs reduced to zero for imports of malt, not roasted (applicable only in Kenya and Uganda, vaild until 30 June 2011), hard wheat (applicable only in Rwanda), textile garments coated with gum, loop pile fabrics, flat-rolled products of iron and non-alloy steel, bars and rods, and copper wire.
  • Tariffs were reduced to 10 percent for imports of hard wheat (applicable in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda), and barley (applicable in Kenya and Uganda until 30 June 2011).
