Import tariff

On 9 December 2008, the government of Ecuador temporarily eliminated import tariffs on machinery used in the sugar industry. While the suspension was initially drated to last for 6 months, it has subsequently been prolongued twice.
 
On 17 September 2009, the suspension has been extended until 12 February 2010.
 
An extension for another six months was granted on 4 March 2010.
