Labour market access

On 28 May 2009, the Belgian government granted an exemption from work permits for executive management occupied at the headquarters of their company.
 
To qualify for the exemption, an employee must

  • work at the Belgian headquarter of a domestic or multinational company;
  • be employed in a management position;
  • earn at least EUR 60.645 (annual gross income, 2010).

 
Prior to the change, only employees at the very top management level qualified for a work permit exemption.
