Import tariff

The 2010 budget of Mauritius contained the following trade measures.
i) Removal of customs duty on rice milk, oats milk and almond milk.
ii) Removal of customs duty on fluorescent kit, LED fixtures including street lighting lamps.
iii) Reduction in customs duty from 30% to 15% on television sets above 32 inches, to encourage the viewing of the 2010 World Cup. Also, to increase affordability, abolishment of the 30% customs duty on new technology television sets above 32 inches.
iv) Continued tax suspension to the construction, tourism and real estate sectors until December 2010, in order to stimulate growth and protect jobs.
v) Increase in royalty payment rate to non-residents from 10% to 15%.
