Import tariff

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced a reclassification ruling in the August 24, 2016 edition of Customs Bulletin and Decisions that resulted in an increase in the tariff applicable to a cam fastener and dowel composed of zinc that is used to fasten or bind parts of furniture together. The item had previously been classified under HTSUS subheading 7907.00.60 (3% duty), but CBP has ruled that they may be reclassified under HTSUS subheading 9403.90.8041 (duty-free). Canada, China, Mexico, and Taiwan are the principal suppliers of this product. The final revocation and modification became effective for goods entered or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption on or after October 24, 2016.
