Import tariff

On 26 August 2016, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) reduced the import tariffs on certain vehicles. According to the SARS decision, the import tariff will be reduced from 25% to 0% for diesel cargo-transport vehicles not exceeding 1,100 kg; petrol and electric passenger vehicles not exceeding 800 kg as well aselectric goods vehicles not exceeding 800 kg.
 
The products subject to reduced import tariffs er specificed under the following HS code subheadings: 8703.21.75, 8703.31.85, 8703.90.31, 8704.21.77, 8704.31.77 and 8704.90.35.
