Export ban

According to consistent press reports in April 2016 the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in apparently separate moves, lifted export bans on cement and steel rebar. One press report cited a report in the Saudi newspaper Makkah and stated that "Export of steel would be allowed only by licensed producers. However, exports would be limited to finished products that have 40 percent local value-addition." Other news reports pointed to limits on the amount of output that cement and steel producers would be allowed to export.
