Import quota

On 27 June 2016, the Algerian Ministry of Commerce announced the introduction of an import quota of 300,000 tonne on certain wire rods of non-alloy steel falling under HS code subheading 7213.91.00. Imports of the above good are subject to prior approval. As such a application of for an import license containing certain information must be submitted to the Algerian authorities.
This measure is introduced pursuant to Executive Decree No. 15-306 dated (24 Safar 1437) 6 December 2015, which lays down the conditions of application of import licensing and export of products and goods.
According to UN Comtrade, no trading partner exceeded the GTA threshold of USD 1 million on the affected tariff lines in the year prior to the intervention. Thus, no affected trading partners have been identified.
