Labour market access

On 4 December 2009, the Swiss Federal Council has cut in half the 2010 migration quota for workers from countries outside the EU and EFTA. Thus, only up to 2'000 Band 3'500 L work permits could be allocated.
After strong pressure from leading high-tech firms (including Google Inc.'s Swiss unit), the Council has overturned this measure on 28 April 2010.
