Import tariff

On December 15th, 2009, the Brazilian government, based on the decision Dec. CMC 27/09 of the Common Market Council of Mercosur, announced tariff increases on the ad-valorem import duty to 35% for some articles of leather classified under the codes 4202.22.10, 4202.22.20 and 4202.92.00 of the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM). The tariff increased to 35%.
 
The average bound tariff of the products concerned is already 35%.
 
Mercosur members Paraguay and Uruguay waived the stated measure.

Import tariff

Resolution 82 issued by the Common Market Council of Brazil on 15 December 2009, also created several new tariff lines leading to the elimination of import duties on codfish and certain electrical equipment classified under tariff subheadings NCM 0305.30.10 and 8537.20.00 respectively. The previously applicable tariffs were 10% and 18% correspondingly.  

This measure entered into force on 1 January 2010.
