For two months in the first quarter of 2009 (February and March 2009) Japan imposed safeguard measures on certain food preparations of flour, meal or starch, and tubers of konnyaku. The trigger level for food preparations of flour, meal or starch is 33 tonnes while the current volume of imports entering Japan is 34 tonnes. For tubers of konnyaku the trigger level is 249 tonnes while 267 tonnes are entering Japan in the current period.
