In August 2015, the Counicl of the Eurasian Economic Union announced an altered import quota.

Import quota

With Decision No. 99 of 20 August 2015 the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC*) established the tariff-rate quotas (TRQ) and respective volumes for imports of meat, poultry and whey for 2016 for its territory. While the TRQ for Russia and Belarus remained unchanged, Kazakhstan increased the TRQ volumes for imported beef and poultry but decreased its TRQ for pork in 2016. No TRQ have been established for the new EEC members Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
Concretely, Kazakhstan:

  • increased its TRQ volume for frozen and chilled beef (classified under codes 0201--0202)from 10.02 thousand tonnes (TT) in 2015 to 21.00 TT in 2016,
  • decreased its TRQ volume for pork (classified under code 0203) from 9.70 TT in 2015 to 0 TT in 2016.
  • increased its TRQ for poultry from 110.00 TT in 2015 to 128.00 TT in 2016 for frozen bone-in chicken halves, quarters, legs, and cuts thereof (classified under code 0207) and set an additional (new) TRQ of 12.000 TT for all other poultry goods, specified in Decision No. 99.

Decision No. 99 shall enter into force 30 days from the date of its official publication (19 September 2015).
As affected trading partners are indicated only the countries from which Kazakhstan imports the affected products in 2014 according to UN Comtrade (there is no available data for 2015).
*Currently the members of EEC are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
