On 4 October 2010, the Venezuelan Governmentexpropriated a portion of land that was under the ownership of the Spanish-Venezuelan agricultural company Agroislena. The government stated that the reason for the expropriation was that Agroislena was selling products at inflated prices as well as was monopolizing storage capacity.
