On 25 September 2013, Sri Lanka amended the export cess rates on natural sand products under HS 2505. The cess on Silica and quartz sand wastes was increased from Rs. 200 per Metric Tonne (MT) to Rs. 1250 per MT and on all other silica and quartz sand was reduced from Rs. 5000 per MT to Rs. 1250 per MT.
According to UN Comtrade, bilateral trade on the stated tariff line did no exceed USD 1 million for a single trading partner in 2012, the year prior to the imposition of this measure. Hence, no countries are listed as affected trading partners.
