Import tariff

Effective 18 July 2014, Sri Lanka capped the Special Commodity Levy applicable on mackerel fish imports at Rs. 10 per kg. Earlier, the applicable levy was Rs. 10 per kg. or 10%, whichever is higher.
 
Initially announced for 7 months, the levy at the above rates was extended on 15 February 2015 and later reduced to Rs. 6 per kg. in March 2015 (see related measures).
 
The Special Commodity Levy is a composite duty on the product and no other tax, duty, cess etc. is applicable on the said product while the levy is valid.
