Effective 3 November 2014, the Indian Ministry for New and Renewable Energy launched a support scheme for installation of 60'000 solar photovoltaic water pump systems, divided into 30'000 systems for years 2014-15 and 2015-16. The Ministry will provide 40% grant support on the system cost up to specified caps. The scheme requires the use of domestically produced photovoltaic modules for the pump systems to avail the subsidy.
The subsidy scheme for solar pump systems was initially introduced in March 2014 for 10'000 systems and has been expanded and updated with the current measure (see related measure).
