Anti-dumping

On 30 December 2009, the European Commission initiated a sunset review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of tungsten carbide, fused tungsten carbide and tungsten carbide simply mixed with metallic powder originating in China (Notice No. 2009/C 322/08). The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 2849.90.30 and ex 3824.30.00. This investigation follows the request lodged on 30 September 2009 by the European Association of Metals (Eurometaux) on behalf of producers representing more than 50% of the total Community's production of the subject goods. The sunset review is based on the existing definitive duty impost in August 2005.

On 25 March 2011, the European Commission extended the definitive duty and an additional five years following the above-mentioned sunset review. The rate of the duty imposed is 33% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price. (Council Implementing Regulation (EU) No 287/2011)
